THE STORY OF CREATION
GENESIS 1:1-31
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without shape or form. There was darkness and everywhere was covered with water. God’s Spirit moved on the surface of the waters
THE FIRST DAY: God Created Light (Genesis 1:1-5): On the first day, God said, “Let there be light.” And so light appeared. God saw how good the light was and He separated the light from the darkness. God called the LIGHT day and the DARKNESS He called night. So there was evening, and then morning, making day one (or First Day)
THE SECOND DAY: God Created the Sky OR Heavens (Genesis 1:6-8): On the second day, God said, “Let there be an expanse in the middle of the waters.” So God made an expanse to divide the waters that were above from the waters that were below. And what God said happened. God called the expanse, “sky (or heavens)”. So there was evening, and then morning, making day two (or Second Day).

THE THIRD DAY: God Created Seas, Land (or Earth) And Vegetation (or all kinds of Plants) (Genesis 1:9-13): On the third day, God said, “Let the waters under the sky (or heavens) come together into one place, and let the dry land appear.” And what God said happened. God called the dry land Earth and the coming together of the waters He called Seas. God saw that it was good. God said, “Let the Earth produce vegetation (all kinds of plants), those that bear grain and those that bear fruit.” And it was done. So the Earth produced all kinds of plants, and God saw that it was good. So there was evening, and then morning, making day three (or Third Day).

THE FOURTH DAY: God Created the Sun, Moon and Stars (Genesis 1:14-19): On the fourth day, God said, “Let there be lights in the sky to separate day from night, to show the seasons, day and years. Let them be lights in the sky to give light on earth.” And what God said happened. God made the two great lights. The greater light (i.e the Sun) to rule the day and the lesser light (Moon and Stars) to rule the night and to separate light from darkness. God saw that it was good. So there was evening, and then morning, making day four (or Fourth Day).

THE FIFTH DAY: God Created Animals in Water And Birds Of The Air (Genesis 1:20-23): On the fifth day, God said, “Let the waters be filled with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the sky.” So God created huge sea creatures and all the living things that swim and fill the waters, each one according to its own kind; and every bird that flies each one according to its own kind. God saw that it was good. God blessed them and said, “Reproduce and increase, and fill the waters of the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth.” So there was evening, and then morning, making day fifth (or Fifth Day).

THE SIXTH DAY: God Created Land Animals and Man (Genesis 1:24-31, 2:7): On the sixth day, God said, “Let the earth bring forth the living creature in its kind, cattle and creeping things, and beasts of the earth, according to their kind.” And what God said happened. So God made them all and God saw that it was good. Then God said, “Let us make Man (human beings) in our image and likeness. Let them have dominion over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the domestic animals all over the earth, and all the animals that crawl on earth.” So God created Man (humans) in His image. He created them male and female. God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful (fertile) and multiply (increase in number) and fill the earth and subdue it; rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and every creature that crawls upon the earth. Then the Lord God formed the dust of the earth and blew the breath of life into His nostrils. The man became a living being. God looked at what He had done. All of it was very good. So there was evening, and then morning, making day sixth (or Sixth Day).

NOTE: On the seventh day, God rested from His work of creation Genesis 2:1-3
